I was not impressed with the property. It was really dated and old looking. The only part of the hotel that was nice was the main entrance. The room had a lake view that was nice. The WiFi did not work well at all and the room also had a musty order to it. The convenience part was the easy access to the Ferry to get to the island.

This property is a typical tourist trap town dump. It smells musty. It has many areas with clear water damage. The AC units smell like mildew. The beds are uncomfortable. The linens feel gross. Rooms are dark. Overall about what you would expect in a tourist heavy area. Places like this know they don’t need to be good to be booked.

The staff was very attentive and professional. The building could benefit from a thorough exterior cleaning and should spray exterior for spiders which would cut down dramatically from webs catching insects on the lake view side. The washing machines were out of order so we had to go to another hotel to wash our clothes.

Don't bother with the water park passes if you have 12 to 15 year old it's very much a splash park. The woman in charge of front desk was rude and not nice to any guests. She didn't even tell us about breakfast or the wifi password. She was very short and direct and didn't want to be bothered with us. Also, there is NO place to store luggage if you need to store prior or after your stay. There were major spiders on the patio which could not be used.
The fitness center is a closet with 5 machines no free weights overall a very disappointing stay.

Breakfast was served from 7-9 the morning of our stay they served pancakes, ham and scrambled eggs. We did not try the pancakes, the ham was barely edible but the scrambled eggs were not bad. When I made the reservation, I indicated that I had 5 people in my party and selected a room that said it slept 5 people. When we arrived, I was given a room that slept 4 people and was told I had to pay an additional $50 to accommodate the 5th person. The staff at the front desk was rude, condescending, and even said that I must be a “bad mother” for thinking that a room with 2 beds could sleep 5 people (apparently, that staff member was unaware of the existence of sofa beds, which reputable hotels have in rooms they advertise sleep 5 people). And the reason given for why I was allowed to make a reservation for 5 in a room that obviously didn’t support it was “well, maybe one of the 5 was an infant and it would have been fine”. This hotel is deceptive and the front desk staff made the entire situation so much worse with their words. In addition, the hotel smelled musty and had a dank, musty feel to it. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with a family.

Overall great location. Front Desk check-in staff were delightful. Room decently spacious and clean.

The issue we had was a Thursday check-in and a Monday check-out... Four sleeps and not ONE single time did housekeeping enter our room.. not ONCE! And they were in the halls by the multitudes daily, all day, doing rooms. We had to cop our own coffee packets and cups off the carts along the hall daily, at like 6:00 pm, when it became clear, after being gone here and there throughout each day, we were on our own. There were garbage bag rolls in bottom of common room bin, we had to find and use these to take our own garbage out to the hall every single day.

And if you're reading positive reviews about breakfast be warned, it is the exact same thing every day and the coffee in that space is cold and terrible.

We paid $350 a night, sure it was the holiday weekend, so to be expected, but absolutely ZERO room service across the span of four nights was definitely unexpected for that price.. our complaint to front desk upon leaving fell on the deafest of ears with no offer of additional means to elevate our concerns higher up the chain. I will continue my search online for a means to complain to ownership, which is well known in the State for having some fairly charlatan business ethics.

The rooms could use updating. Not that it has to be done, but with the prices they were charging there’s no reason why they couldn’t. The lock barely locked on my patio door, which was on the ground floor. Bathroom outside of our room was very filthy. Hot tub and pool had a funky color to them. Weird enough that we do not feel comfortable swimming in them or entering them. Exterior entrances did not need a card to be swiped in. Which could lead to some safety issues. Disappointing stay, especially for the price. The room had a very large hot tub that took up a lot of space. I would have preferred a larger living area or a more functional room layout instead. The staff at the front desk during check-in were not very friendly or welcoming, which made the first impression disappointing. The hallways were very dark and did not feel clean, giving the hotel an old and somewhat neglected appearance. I felt unnecessarily cheap considering the high room rates. The pool and hot tubs was clean and open until midnight! The bed and pillows were very comfortable. And now the negatives and why I would give it a 7 of 10. The room was clean but dust in the corners probably because the staff did not have time to do a deep clean. We had a jetted tub but there was no stopper for it. The furniture was dated and worn. The breakfast was a BIG disappointment. Hours were from 7-9 and same thing for the four days we stayed, ham, scrambled eggs and pancakes. At 8:30 AM they were all cold. The coffee was weak. There apples, and a packaged roll that I could not finish. For $1150 for the 4 days I expected much more. I would not go back if the price was half that.

The hotel has a great location, very walkable to ferries and the down town. However, this hotel is really drab and needs a major remodeling. It is far below the standards I have come to appreciate with Hilton. The ugly gold wallpaper was peeling and vintage 1960’s. The carpet was very worn. I couldn’t turn on the bathroom light without first closing the door and then fumbling around in the dark to find the switch. None of our shampoo/ conditioner was replenished during our three day stay. There was one soap given to us to share between the sink and shower for three days. No soap dish or shelf was in the shower. There were no racks to hang towels in the bathroom. There was a bottle opener bolted into the bathroom wall further suggesting the room last saw attention in 1960’s. There was graffiti stains that had been attempted to be covered over on siding on the patio. The screen door to the beach level patio was battered and took two of us to open. Fortunately for us we just used this as a base to explore the UP and spent little time in the hotel.

Got an upgrade upon check in for a discount. There was a reason for the discount. Light in shower didn't work (walls of shower black). Called front desk, they sent someone. He said it's a known issue because water has come through light fixture. Said it would be fixed the next day. The next day ket front desk know when we left our room so someone could come in and fix it. Came back that afternoon and finishing up drywall. The light then worked. Later that night the light fixture over jacuzzi almost fell into jacuzzi, it was dangling. Pushed it back up. 30 minutes later water running out of our light fixture in the shower. Called front desk again, sent maintenance. Fixed it enough for the evening. Checking out the next day I asked for the difference back in the upgrade and they refused. Only offered a coupon for another hotel in the city. Explained we are from out of state and just wanted the money. Still refused, gave me corporate number. They gave me the same run around. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

pros: beachside room, Walking distance to Mackinaw Crossings.
