The location was excellent. It’s right on the beach. the shuttle service to and from Sheppler was top-notch service. Housekeeping cleaned our rooms every day. The maintenance guy was beyond amazing. Make sure bonfires and s’mores every night. The breakfast was pretty decent as well. Only minor thing I would mention is the bathrooms were small and the toilets could use an upgrade. Otherwise, it was an excellent day and I would definitely recommend if you want to stay right on the beach.

Pros: Very nice place in a beautiful area with large lakefront rooms a few minutes from downtown Mackinaw City. They have bonfires & smores at sunset on their beach, and a basic breakfast buffet in the morning.

It was a super fun place to stay! The bonfire and s’mores were the greatest touch for my tired kids! Seriously the best memories made! The only complaint was that I wish we would have had more time because this hotel offered so much! (Pool, sandy beach, kayaks) the staff was super great especially the guy lighting the fires! He was so nice and friendly!

The s’mores kit when we arrived was great and extra added bonus having the fire pits on the beach for at night we use the Jacuzzi in the pool was wonderful. Will be back 10 out of 10.

The check-in process was not smooth. Said I came in too early because the room wasn’t ready. Check in time is 3pm. We arrived at 3:05. Manager intervened and magically found a room. There were plenty rooms available but we were too early. Too bad the customer isn’t the priority anymore.

This was the cutest hotel. We stayed in a room with a view of the lake. The included breakfast was elevated from your typical hotel breakfast options. The rooms were nicely updated, although you could tell that some pieces were not yet fully completed ( untouched up trim). The fires on the beach were a lovely touch and our girls enjoyed the smores and playing in the sand. The pool and the hot tub were also enjoyed while we were there.
If I had to suggest enhancements to the hotel it would be to have a pitcher of ice water with the breakfast and it would be nice to have a small boutique stocked with bug spray, sunscreen, toothpaste etc.

The staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. The room was clean, but bathroom was dated and water pressure not great. Also some gouging along one wall was a little unsightly and in need of repair and the curtains although functional were stained in places. A very nice view of the Mackinaw Bridge and the beach area was nice for sitting and enjoying the view, but no access to actually swim. The pool, free breakfast, and general grounds were all nicely maintained.

The property needs a little TLC. The staff was very friendly. We really enjoyed the fires and smores by the beach. Some of the plastic beach chairs were broke. We stumbled on the shuttle for Shepleys. They were there to pick up other people and we hitched a ride. I wish the hotel would have let us know that the shuttle will come there to get you, that would have been nice to know. Breakfast was okay, nothing great at all. The view was great. Overall a good visit.

Absolutely our favorite place to stay in Mackinaw!! My wife and I have stayed at several places between Mackinaw and St. Ignace and this is the only place we've came back to, and will stay again in our future trips. Property is well maintained and clean, there's bon fires every night on the beach. Location is just outside of town, but it's quieter and very nice sitting on the porch and watching the ferry's come in and out of Mackinaw. Also has a great view of the Mackinaw Bridge.

This place was amazing. They could easily do things half way because of the stellar location, but they don't. The staff is amazing and the amenities are over the top. Around 7 they light all the fire pits on the beach and hand out s'mores bags. They also come by later and stoke the fire. This is a hidden gem and I understand why people told us they've been coming every year with their families.

I feel the photos are very misleading. It’s a very dated property and although they are making updates, it needs work. There are no elevators so we had to haul our luggage up a large flight of stairs. There was 1 pop machine and the “ice machine” was outside. There is no beach, just a rocky ledge and chairs. Our room had 2 queen beds and when I went to pull the sheets back, there was hair all over the sheets and dried blood on the comforter. When I called the front desk, the lady who was extremely kind came to our room with a man. I don’t know who this man was but I’m guessing he was her “boss.” The sheets very visibly soiled and he was so rude. He just muttered stuff under his breath and then stated “we don’t press our sheets.” He put the clean sheet on and left the blankets and top sheet in a pile on the bed. The hotel refused to give us a refund but thankfully Expedia was able to assist us in cancelling the future nights. The “lobby” or building where you check in is literally empty, just a front desk. We did not stick around to check out the “breakfast.” Creepy vibes all around.

Amazing waterfront access. Incredible value. Only downside is the bed we had was very close to the AC/Heat. So we couldn’t run while sleeping. Also they have multiple bonfires in the evening. While amazing if you are traveling to future destinations, make sure your luggage is zipped as the entire room will smell like bonfire.

The only reason I’m not giving it five stars is because it’s a little bit of an older Motel and I would not want to have anybody been mistaken. It was exactly perfect for what I wanted. Right down to the bonfires waiting for you on the beach. Highly recommend.

We stayed at this property for 2 nights on a trip to Mackinac. It is an older property but the owners and persons who care for the property have a done a good job updating and keeping the rooms clean. The staff were very nice and helpful. They have a nice breakfast every morning. The fire pits and complimentary s’more bags on the beach in the evenings were very nice to enjoy after a day of sight seeing. We would definitely stay at this property again when in the area. Thank you to those who work and run this motel!

We feel the staff should have certainly been aware of this when the room was cleaned. Their hotel sign said “no vacancy” so we toughed it out, but we were surprised to encounter this in a highly rated hotel.

This was the perfect spot for us! We did the island all day and landed here for relaxing quiet evening. Away enough for the quiet but still on the lake. The view was spectacular and the bon fire topped it off. The room was clean and bed was comfy! We definitely will come back!

There was a horrible smell of sewer from the building next door that leaked into our building creating an awful smell that fumed the hallways. When complained, there were no other rooms available so we’re given a 10% refund for our last night even after had to smell it the other nights.

I was very impressed with this hotel. I wasnt sure what to expect since it was a very good price. We were offered an upgrade at check in which we accepted. Our balcony room had views of the bridge and Mackinac Island. Small beach area with firepits which they light nightly. The room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. Would definately stay here again.

The property is just lovely with hundreds of blooming hydrangeas. Sooo quiet and a private beach. They light several bonfires at night for guests to enjoy, with smores ingredients provided! This is the perfect place to stay.
