We had an amazing stay at this hotel and would definitely come back! If you’re looking for a peaceful, relaxing getaway surrounded by nature, this is the perfect place.

The staff was outstanding and truly made our experience special. A special thank you to Antonio and Jesus, who took excellent care of us throughout our stay. They were incredibly kind, attentive, and always made sure we had everything we needed.

We were also pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to a swim-up room, which made our stay even more memorable. Having direct pool access and a private deck was such a wonderful experience.

The rooftop pool was another highlight, offering beautiful views and the perfect place to relax. The hotel had great amenities, everything was clean and well maintained, and the peaceful atmosphere made it easy to unwind.

While there isn’t much nearby, so you’ll need to drive if you want to explore the area, it wasn’t an issue for us because the hotel has its own restaurant with delicious food. We were more than happy to spend most of our time enjoying everything the property had to offer.

Overall, if you’re looking to disconnect, enjoy nature, and escape the crowds, I highly recommend this hotel. The peaceful setting, excellent service, and thoughtful swim-up room upgrade made this a stay we’ll always remember. Thank you again to Antonio and Jesus for making us feel so welcome!

The hotel is beautiful we had the walk out pool room excellent room but it was my birthday weekend and had to cancel plans due to our room not locking they say breakfast is included but not anything on the menu they give you so you get a bill with your breakfast I was not compensated for the room and we left mid trip . This hotel is perfect for a couple or solo people who want to do nothing but read and relax there is nothing walking distance and one restaurant with not to big of a menu

Really cool place with nice staff. Kinda far from everything else. Uber took about 15/20 minutes to get to anywhere. Smelled like rotting fish the whole time because of the swamp ,so it was kinda difficult to enjoy our luxury pool accessible room. It says all inclusive but nothing is really included except the “breakfast” which was some fruit and a pancake.

The swim up pool of my room was beautiful. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The hotel was also not expensive at all which was nice because we were out and about the entire trip. They have someone there that can book all your tours right away. I would recommend and also will come back.

Gosh this resort was so beautiful, I stayed at the deluxe room with pool access which is open 24 hours. The breakfast was awesome, French toast, pancakes, fruit platters. And the restaurant’s food was delicious as well. Most importantly the staff is extremely hospitable and kind. Be sure to check out their backyard it’s gorgeous.

This will be long.....The first few days were absolutely amazing! The place was spotless. The staff was amazing. Especially Tony and Sergio! It really is a hidden gem and they are working on the property by painting and fixing things. But the last 2 days were not good. In order to have AC or lights you must have a card in the wall. We went to bed with AC and lights. Some time in the middle of the night I thought I heard the door open. Thought maybe my husband got up but he didn't. I fell back asleep and it got very hot and humid in our room. I got up and the card in the wall was missing. Staff looked at security cameras but apparently we were imagining things and were told no one entered our room and removed the card. Whatever....we let it go. Mistakes can happen. The next morning they had a painting crew. They knocked and asked to go thru our room to the pool deck. Fine. It was quick. We left for the day. Came back, everything seemed fine. We got home yesterday and I went to fill my pill caddy. I am disabled. I have many medications. Meds that cannot just be refilled at any time. Well....I have 2 medications that have about 2 weeks worth that are missing. These meds are controlled substances in the US. Now I have to explain to my doctor that I have missing prescriptions. So....what was a wonderful place turned into not trusting them. As for a property, staff, cleanliness they get an A+

Unique property with multiple pools and access to the beach. Love the charm and boho vibes of the property. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Only downfalls would be the breakfast is simply fruit and bread (delicious but please not in case you expect more), and fairly close to main road so you can hear traffic. Overall, great experience and I would go again.

However there was no hot water in our shower and it was the morning that we were leaving when we found out so no time to fix.

I’m sure they would have fixed it or set us up in a different room if we had told them. The staff were friendly. Nothing bad to say.

Staff were super friendly and accommodating throughout my stay! My room was spotless as was the restaurant. My only reason for 4 * was because I didn’t realise only 1 restaurant was available the time I was here - I think likely due to time of year! Will definitely come back - location wise you’re close to airport but also Ubers to hotel zone or Cancun city centre are only 20 mins max!

What they show in their pictures is deceiving!
We checked in and within 15 minutes we realized… no hot water, toilet was clogged, sink was clogged, tv tilted upwards, road traffic noise unbearable and the pool was dirty!
We left the hotel after 39 minutes to a real hotel and kindly asking the reception clerk to have her manager call me… which never happened. So, I will not get my money back because this place doesn’t guarantee cancellations.

I really like my room, especially the balcony & view. Bed was very comfortable.

The restaurant & cleaning staff were incredibly kind, respectful and hospitable.

However I can't say the same for the young man at front desk (early shift).
He was easily the rudest person I have ever encountered in any position of customer service in a very long time. I flew in for a 3 night restoration weekend, and this particular offensive and uncomfortable communication upon my arrival affected my entire experience.

I have over 20+ yrs of experience in the customer service industry, including management in both restaurants and hotels.
I can say with absolute confidence, that this isn't how you do it.

Property is beautiful and the new owners/management are making many improvements to the facilities. Antonio the hotel supervisor and all the staff were friendly and helpful. However one of the pools was not functioning due to a problem with algae but they were very attentive to the problem and trying to correct it. The restaurant menu was limited and the resort location, although close to the airport, was far from the hotel zone and about a 30 minute walk to then closest bus stop.

This place was so cute!l would love to have stayed here when it first opened. Please read the reviews bc the property does have some construction/fixing happening. The walls are thin and you will hear everything your neighbor is doing or saying. Additionally, this is right off the road to the hotel zone so you hear the traffic zooming. Continental breakfast was fresh and I guess presented nicely. Definitely won’t fill you even momentarily. Basically they want you to just purchase their breakfast. Hotel maintenance was just fine. They cleaned the rooms well ! Pool was nice as soon as you enter to relax and buy a couple drinks from their little bar. The upstairs pool is also fine but pretty isolated.

Read all the reviews. Don’t book here expecting a resort experience. We booked a single night last minute bc it was near the airport. The room was renovated and clean, but the entire hotel was empty and strange, and the bars & pools were vacant. Only one bar near the lobby and the others were shuttered. Maybe 8 other guests on the property. There’s a bit of a sand beach on the lagoon - it’s not the ocean beach you might be expecting. It’s fine for a single night but not a vacation spot.

We had a room was access to the pool and that was mainly the only good thing. Breakfast made me speechless. Fruit plate was good, but then you received a piece of toast or 1.5 piece of French toast. For everything else you had to pay. Restaurant and bar is so overpriced!!! Beach small and they warn about crocodiles. See weed doesn’t get removed and stinks.

It was a unique place and a good location. At certain parts of the property the smell was unbearable. The construction work at all hours was unpleasant. The complimentary breakfast was just a small fruit plate and one pancake or french toast. If you wanted more it was at a cost. The dinner restaurant was very overpriced.

Stay away! The place in pics and videos looks great because they were from when it was first opened. This place needs A LOT of repairs. Then to make matters worse- the reception and restaurant staff are disrespectful and rude. I wanted to be as detailed as possible to help other travelers therefore this is a long one. In short- we only survived 2 night there then had to move to another hotel as it was not a suitable place to stay. The other people staying there were also talking about leaving, accepting their losses and moving to more accommodation hotel. It feels like they are used to people leaving, there are no refunds and whether you stay or leave they still are their money.

The Roof/top floor
The roof is not accessible, there'd no safe pool access, the tiles and flooring are in need of repair, there's no rooftop bar either, it falling apart and a dangerous place to be in.

Bottom level and common areas:
The bottom level is also in need of repair, the walkways are falling apart, the garbage cans in the walkways are broken and filled with trash. There are about 4 parking spot right infant of the entry. If those are taken you will need to park down the street at the other metal door entry but first you need to go to the entry way, so that someone can ope the other gate for you. You get back in your car, go down the road make a U-turn then to the other gate and hopefully someone has made it there to open the metal gate for you. You then walk on either the inside of the hotel or on the street.

Restaurant:
Walked in to the restaurant on the 2nd floor, the person there looked at us then walked away. We walked over to the bar/prep area to ask if they were taking customers since it was empty and the worker walked away from us. They didn't even look at us and simple said yes. We asked if we needed to wait to be seated or not. They moved their hand a to brush us away (like when you're trying to get a fly out of your way). We took that as a way to mean to sit down. We went to sit. The worked comes over to us and literally asked us,\"What do you want?\" No menu, no hello. We tried to be polite, smiled and kindly asked for a menu so that we could decide what to order. Several minutes later, they return and drop the menu on the table. It wa so uncomfortable we thanked them for their time then walked away.

Beach Area:
Some chairs are dirty, some are broken, the side table are dirty, the decor is falling apart and needs repairs, there's a crocodile that swims back and forth on the small beach area, there is no warning sign to keep guests safe and not really an area that can be used by guests.

Check-in experience and reception staff:
As soon as we walked in we said hello, gave them some treats we had brought for them and in Spanish explained they were treats for them and the staff (we had brought several treats to share) as is our custom. Not a thank you, ignored us, then after standing there a few minutes they asked for our name. Gave us our room #, key, and then we walked over to our room. We noticed the towels were stained, dirty and the air conditioning was not working. We walked over to the reception area and explained the situation while also asking for a room change. They gave us some towels from a plastic bag, said someone would come over regarding the air conditioning and told they don't do room changes. We asked for a fan and told the hotel does not use them therefore none are available. After waiting an hour for maintenance person we checked back in w/ reception staff. They said they had already called someone and within minutes they would arrive. Waited another hour (2hrs total), and no maintenance. We decided to go purchase a fan to make it a little more comfortable. Upon our return we noticed a big fan in the lobby. Went to the room and still- the air conditioner had not been repaired. It had been 7 hours and still nothing. We checked in with the new receptionist person and was told everyone had already left and nobody was available. Next day requested maintenance again and we were told someone would go and make repairs. After a long day of traveling you want to relax but we re on our second day there and still no relaxing as it was too hot, We went to the restaurant to try to get something to eat while we waited for maintenance and you can read above about that experience.
When we arrived that evening and saw no repairs were made, we decided we had enough. We booked another place to stay and left.

In all, stay way. The service and condition of this place is truly horrible.

We were on the first floor with the pool outside our door. The pool isn’t heated and it was too cold to go in. The room itself was not cleaned well before we entered. There were brown drip marks on the ground, the sink drain was misplaced, the shower was an open shower and every time we showered the entire bathroom floor would be covered in water, there was splatter marks on the walls, the lamps had broken twine on top, and the lights only worked half the time.

The hotel is under construction and many of the amenities are not open. The staff are very hopeful and friendly, but it is disappointing that most of the bars are closed. Also the menu at the restaurant is outrageously expensive, and the free breakfast is pretty pathetic. I would rather be given a reasonably priced menu and just order my breakfast every day.

I travelled solo and stayed for 6 days. I don't know what some of these reviews are aiming for. Yes sometimes there is a smell, but have you not been anywhere else in Mexico? Even the plush reports smell sometimes, a lot of people be pooping in Mexico. It was very mellow and private, not cookie cutter. Safe. Easy to navigate. The \"beach\" area doesn't bode well for swimming but it is a great and cool boho spot. It's easy to get around to other beaches for swimming. I recommend a swim up room. The beds were comfy, my internet worked fine and my hot water was usually hot. Helpful and delightful staff.

Akuazul, overall, is a beautiful, clean place. The decor is unbelievably beautiful. Although it is not waterfront, as in you can’t swim bc there is a mangrove between the hotel and the water, the view is amazing. The place is so quiet and serene. The restaurant staff was attentive and friendly and the food was delicious!! Front desk staff was friendly and courteous, helping to book transportation or excursions. The only negative was the need for some renovation. I had read that in the reviews. Nothing is so horrible that it ruined my stay but there are many small things that need to be fixed, repaired or updated. The rooftop pool itself was great but the deck around it needs help. And one suggestion- replace the safety enclosure around the roof top with glass panels. Better for the view as well as blocking the wind- I almost blew away as it was extremely windy my last day. All in all, loved it and would definitely return!!

Rooms are really dated-no place to put your clothes-not enough hangers-food was super expensive -service was Bad. Super slow to get anything -food service was the absolute worst.
No Beach you can swim in.
Pool up top is falling apart. We were picking up tiles.
Road can be noisy trying to sleep.
Bathroom counter falling off so my products kept rolling off.
Pool was freezing. Our room was next to pool bar and the music was super loud-we had to ask them to turn it down.

The room smelled of urine. The entire hotel complex was in disrepair boards missing wire exposed dangerous. There was no water provided or available unless you paid over $1.50 usd for a tiny bottle. Water is a basic necessity come on. The breakfast also very cheap. No coffee pot in room no chairs on balcony as pictured. And did I mention the smell!!
Very upset with hotels claiming an 8 score does not deserve more than a 1or 2 at best. Whoever owns this is a slum lord. Really terrible.

There is nothing, not even a store, within walking distance. We stayed for 5 days and our room was only cleaned once (and that was after back and forth with the front desk. Breakfast consists of fruit and one piece of toast OR one piece of French toast OR one pancake. Not a lot.

Room was clean and comfortable, staff were friendly, but most amenities were closed. Significant portions of the property were closed (often broken). Additionally, our room was lacking towels upon checking and we had to ask several times before we received any.

I ask the staff for spwcial decoration for the room upon arrival to hotel and it wasnt done, then transportation wasnt ready to pick me up at the airport, and every time they cleaned the room they took the toals with out leaving any new ones, and every time this issues were brough up to the hotel they acted like nothing was wrong

This property is truly beautiful. The design and overall vibe are stunning, and the private beach area is absolutely gorgeous — peaceful and one of the highlights of our stay. You can tell there was a strong vision behind the space.
Unfortunately, there is a noticeable lack of maintenance and attention to safety. There are exposed wires and multiple areas blocked off with caution tape (see photos). The rooftop pool area did not feel secure or properly maintained. These are real safety concerns, not minor cosmetic issues.
Transportation upon arrival was frustrating. I scheduled a pickup in advance and waited 30 minutes with no communication. I had emailed asking how to identify the driver and was told someone would be holding a sign. That was not the case, which made arrival stressful. When I expressed concern, the manager responded by saying he didn’t understand why I was upset and that I “should be happy.” That felt dismissive and unprofessional.
Additional issues: the pool is not heated, staff did not speak English which made communication difficult, the hotel is next to a busy street with constant traffic noise, and there were mosquitoes in the bathroom.
Beautiful property, but it needs better maintenance, safety oversight, and guest service to match its potential.

The room was very clean, the food in the restaurant was excellent. Only giving 3 stars because they have not refunded our account for the 2 days we did not use. We paid extra to allow cancellation. We gave them 24 hours notice that we needed to leave 2 days early and they said they would refund the extra 2 days, but we still have not received any refund.

Hotel room was neglected, with unchanged sheets and un-restocked amenities. Daily house keeping reduction is normal especially after COVID but not changing the sheets at least once during a 5 day stay is outrageous! The Hotel appears to be under maintenance but not the regular maintenance that comes to mimd, Like the cover up mildew with paint maintenance. Security is a joke literally entered the resort while security was asleep “on duty”! Sewer Issue as well which appeared they were aware of and left and terrible smell all throughout.
Pool looks gross. Main light in room didnt work as well as bird crap on window curtains upon arrival.

No Blow Dryer
